Internet Speed - All categories
Internet Speed is calculated by means of Download & Upload speeds.
In a scenario, if a client chose a 6Mbps Wireless Home Subscription, the following will apply:
- Up to 6Mbps Download Speeds at any given time of day.
- Up to 6Mbps Upload Speeds at any given time of day.
- Shared Connectivity applies - Which means, should the network be under severe strain due to high bandwidth usage from other clients, speeds may drop a bit or latency may increase a bit, however it should never decrease to below at least 50% of the subscribed package.
- In most cases we have found that customers are having issues with their speed, due to high internal bandwidth usage - which basically means, if the entire 6Mbps is being utilized inside the client's own premises, then other devices connected to the clients network may have connection or speed issues.
ZeroConnect has a 33/33/33 policy, which means we have 1:1 unshared bandwidth coming into all of our towers at the same time. The mentioned uplink bandwidth is 100% unshared bandwidth, which means we can supply our clients sufficiently with a 1:1 internet connection, unless our network is under severe strain due to high usage.
Our 33/33/33 policy also means that we have a minimum of 3 failover connections to each tower at all times, so outages, power outages, etc. should not affect us.
In case of a major fibre break, we normally operate normally, but in some cases our speed may be affected a little. Our network infrastructure was designed with one thing in mind - redundancy, and our smart routers have the ability to switch between faster internet breakouts automatically, should any change in latency or speed be detected from our upstream providers.
We make use of approx. 5 upstream internet providers, to ensure we have internet almost 99.9% of the time.
